Glennie Blakeney Ashcraft, 89, of 4110 Vassie Drive, died Feb. 24, 1998 at DCH Regional Medical Center.

Graveside services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park.

Born in Pickens County, Ala., Glennie was a daughter of Lee Boyd and Amelia Godfrey Blakeney.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 63 years, Houston Banks Ashcraft; a daughter, Amelia Ashcraft Spruill; brothers Cadmus Durrell Blakeney, Thomas Graves Blakeney, Robert Lee Blakeney and Grady Blakeney; sisters Linnie Blakeney Crowder and Gracie Blakeney.

Survivors include three daughters, Kate Taylor and son-in-law Horace Taylor, Helen Herren and son-in-law James Herren, Lydia Riley and son-in-law Joe Riley, all of Tuscaloosa; two sisters, Laudice Williams, Birmingham and Montle Dye of Mosheim, Tenn.; two brothers, Revis Duin Blakeney, Gainesville, Ga. and James Reed Blakeney, Social Circle, Ga.; brother-in-law Thomas Max Ashcraft, Fayette; sister-in-law Opal Luther, Mobile; six grandchildren, James Darwin Herren, Loretta Taylor Kahler, Kathy Spruill Chastine, Kristina Spruill Motley, Kenneth Edward Spruill and Joseph Brantley Riley; eight great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be grandsons James Darwin Herren, Kenneth Spruill, Brantley Riley, Scott Kahler, Joe Chastine and Reggie Motley, great grandsons; Jason Herren, Shane Herren, Daniel Herren, Duane Herren and Todd Perkins.
