Lacy H. Griffith, 85 of Daniels, passed away on Monday, September 3, 2012 at Heartland of Beckley following an extended illness. Lacy was an avid outdoorsman and had a passion for traveling, camping, hunting and fishing. He was last employed with Perry & Hylton Coal Company. He was also a member of First Baptist Church of Shady Spring and sang in the choir for a number of years and he also helped build the first church years ago providing the labor for the foundation and helped build Camp Gilead, the First Baptist Church of Shady Spring Camp. He served our country in the United States Army during World War II.

Born December 28, 1926 in Ghent, to the late Lacy "Hawker" Lawrence Griffith (1900-Deceased) and Ella Mae Marshall-Griffith (1906-Deceased).

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 68 years, Virginia Fugate-Griffith (1926-2019) whom he married on April 9, 1944 in Shady Spring, Raleigh County, WV (per WV Marriage License Register, Raleigh County, WV, 1944, Page 150, Application Date: April 5, 1944); son, Harold Dean Griffith (1946-2017) & wife Kathryn Griffith of Daniels; and grandchildren, Karyn Griffith-Kulp &husband Ben Kulp of Oxford, PA, and Mark Griffith & fiancée Nicci Fierbaugh and her daughter Madysin of Huntington, WV.

A celebration of Lacy's life will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 7, 2012, at the First Baptist Church of Shady Spring, with Pastor Charles Tilley officiating. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum in Beckley.
