AGAWAM - Lucille R. (Bonavita) Tranghese passed away Wednesday morning at Baystate Medical Center. Lucy was born in Agawam, MA on February 5, 1925 to the late Albert and Margaret Bonavita; she lived most of her life in East Longmeadow. Lucy worked for many years at the Deli on Shaker Road in East Longmeadow. She was a member of the East Longmeadow Red Hat Society and was past-president of the Women's Auxiliary ITAM Veteran's Post 64. Lucy's favorite pastimes included playing bingo, going to the casino, and going out to dinner. Lucy was an excellent cook and made amazing Italian style meals for her entire family. Her specialty was her famous macaroni and meatballs for Sunday dinner. Lucy's most beloved pastime was spending time with her family. Lucy was predeceased by her daughter Donna M. Parisi, as well as her eight brothers and two sisters. Lucy is survived by her husband of 64 years, Dominic. In their younger years, Lucy and Dominic loved to travel, going everywhere from Canada to the Caribbean. Lucy is also survived by her son Felix and his wife Corinne of East Longmeadow, her daughter Carla DeAngelo and her husband Joseph of Hampden, and her son-in-law Joseph Parisi of East Longmeadow, as will as eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. The family would like to express sincere gratitude to the staff at Heritage Woods in Agawam and the ICU staff at Baystate Medical Center for the excellent care they took of Lucy. Calling hours for Lucy will be held on Thursday, September 6th from 4-7PM at Colonial Forastiere Funeral Home, 985 Main St., Agawam. Lucy's funeral service will be held on Friday, September 7th from the funeral home at 8:30AM, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM in St. John the Evangelist Church. Committal Prayers will follow at the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Agawam. Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 306 Industrial Park Rd., Suite 105, Middletown, CT 06457.
