Death of George W. Polk
The death of George Washington Polk, one of the oldest and best known residents of Pleasant township, occurred at the family home in Greenwood on Wednesday morning about 7:00.
Mr. Polk was born in Kentucky in 1816 and came to Indiana when a young man, settling near Evansville and later at Princeton. He removed with his family to Johnson county in 1861, locating near Greenwood. In his early life he was a cabinet maker and undertaker but upon his removal to this county took up farm life and held large farming interests in the county.
