Ruth Alice Okerman Andersen was born Oct. 1, 1909 at Souris, N.D., daughter of John and Sophia Carlson Okerman and died at her home in Buffalo township east of Jamestown Sunday, June 25,1972 at the age of 62. She came to Concordia in 1924 and Dec. 15, 1944 married Charles A. Andersen. She attended the Worthington, N.D. high school and the Topeka business college. Ruth was a member of the Baptist Church, WMS and the Buffalo Valley EHU.
Survivors are: her husband; one son, Charles Eric Andersen of Concordia; one daughter, Sara Ruth Andersen of Kansas City; two sisters, Miss Gerda Okerman of Concordia, Mrs. J.O. Larson of Overland Park; two step-sisters, Mrs. Clifford Palmquist of Manhattan, Mrs. T. A. Coulter of Clyde; one stepbrother, E.W. Larson of Concordia; her stepfather, Emil G. Larson of Concordia. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers. Family funeral services were held June 27, 10 a.m. at Blachley and Buoy Funeral Home in Jamestown with the Rev. Jerry V. Catt officiating. Memorial services were held at the Concordia Baptist Church June 27, 2 p.m. with the Rev. Catt and the Rev. Harland Smith in charge. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
