Nathaniel A. Gooch, Sr., age 31 of Hueytown, Alabama, formerly of Monroe, died Thursday, August 30, 2012 in Hueytown due to injuries he sustained in a motorcycle accident.

Cremation has taken place in Alabama. Friends may call from 2 – 8 p.m. Thursday at Rupp Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church. Rev. John Schinkel, Chaplain at the Lutheran Home will officiate. Interment will be later at Gethsemane Cemetery.

Nathan was born February 20, 1981 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He was educated at Holy Ghost Lutheran School and was a 1999 graduate of Monroe High School where he was a member of its Honor Society and lettered in wrestling. He also attended Monroe County Community College.

Nathan married Kristina M. Waterhouse on April 12, 2002 in Toledo, Ohio. He was a Professional Van Operator for DMS Moving Systems in Canton and Alabama. He was a respected and valued member of the DMS family. He was a Black Belt in Karate and enjoyed fishing. He will be remembered for having a big heart and will be deeply missed by his family, friends and coworkers. Nathan was always with his children when he was not at work. He especially loved teaching them how to fish.

Nathaniel is survived by his wife Kristina and their two children, Leona Jean-Grace and Nathaniel, Jr. of Carleton; parents, Keith and Denise (Sachs) Morse of Carleton and George and Bridget Gooch of Jackson, Michigan; two brothers, Christopher Morse of Lansing and Nickolas (Jenna) Morse of Monroe; two sisters, Ashley Morse of Monroe and Kelly Gooch of Jackson; grandparents, Dwight and Gail Sachs, and George and Marlene Gooch, all of Carleton; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Nathan was preceded in death by a brother, Keith Morse, II.

The world has truly lost a big heart that was filled with love for everyone. We all will love and miss you Nathan.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Nathaniel Gooch Children's Trust Fund C/O Monroe Bank & Trust.
