Verna was born to Roy and Eva Waller. She graduated from Crescent High School and received her bachelor’s degree from Central State University in Edmond, Oklahoma. She married Everett Earl Bobbitt on July 20, 1947. They were both educators and taught in several places before settling in Norman, Oklahoma in 1956 where they lived and raised a family until 1976 when they moved back to Crescent to be near her parents. She moved to Tishomingo, Oklahoma in 2007 when her health began to decline.

Verna was the ultimate teacher, loving and kind, yet firm and disciplined. She taught 7th grade English at West Junior High in Norman. She also taught international students from OU the English language and was a Sunday School teacher. She was always teaching her children and grandchildren even in her last years.

She loved to travel with her family and friends. She traveled all over the United States, Europe and the Holy Land. She was also an accomplished seamstress. Her Christian faith was strong and was expressed in her care and love for her church and those around her. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Crescent and always was there to help with whatever needed to be done. She loved her family with her whole heart. Her main concern was never about herself, but how she could help others. Her sweet smile, her soft, gentle voice and her sense of humor will be missed. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother, Alvin and a sister, Alene Blackmon.

She was survived by her daughters, Becky Wyatt and husband Gary of Tishomingo, Oklahoma, Bonnie Lindesmith and husband Jeff of Tucson, Arizona, grandchildren Brent Wyatt and Tracy of Oklahoma City, Traci Johnson of Oklahoma City, Misty White and husband Greg of Lucas, Texas, Matthew Johnson and wife, Britni of San Diego, California, Benjamin Lindesmith of San Diego, California, great grandchildren Isabella Williams, Tinley, Reed and Aly White, and Maya Johnson. She was also survived by her devoted caregiver Bonnie Hernandez, nine nieces and nephews, numerous relatives and friends.
