VERNON C. "V.C." ADCOCK, JR., age 82, of Knoxville, TN passed away Monday, April 14, 2008. He was born August 29, 1925, the son of the late Rev. Vernon C. and Katherine Bayless Adcock, Sr. He was a graduate of East Tennessee State University with a degree in Music Education and following graduation, he began his 39 year career of teaching music and high school band instruction. Having a passion for music and working with students, he was prominent and well-known band instructor at Young High School of Knoxville and later on South-Doyle High, where he and his bands achieved many awards and acknowledgements under his leadership. He was a member of the Sand Branch United Methodist Church.

Preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Virginia Jones Adcock and brother, Robert Adcock.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Eddie Smith of Lenoir City, TN; grandson, Richard Horton and great grandson, Ethan Horton; sister, Nancy LaFosse; niece, Ann Henry; nephews, Randy, Rick and Robert LaFosse and Joe Adcock.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 17, 2008 at Asbury Cemetery in Knox County with Reverend Becky Stevens officiating. Friends may call at their convenience Wednesday afternoon and evening from 12:00 noon until 8:00 p.m. at Farrar Funeral Home in Dandridge.
