Marvin Denver Hooks, age 72, of Gautier, MS., died June 3, 2002, in Biloxi, MS. He was born December 17, 1929, in Bates, AR. He had retired from Ingalls Shipbuilding as rigging supervisor after serving 27 1/2 years in the United States Navy, serving in Korea and Vietnam. He was a member of Martin Bluff Baptist Church. Mr. Hooks was preceded in death by his father and mother, Lonnie and Idell Hooks, and his son, Cecil Goldman Hooks.
Mr. Hooks is survived by his wife, Doris J. Hooks of Gautier; three sons and their wives, Clifton and Jamie Hooks of Gautier, Clarence and Charlene Hooks of Gautier, Clinton Dale and Jane Hooks of Lucedale, MS.; one daughter and her husband, Pamela and John Cochan of Gautier; one brother, Grady Parker of Fort Smith, AR. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and one great grandchild.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, June 6, at 11 a.m. from the Martin Bluff Baptist Church with the Rev. Murphy Young officiating. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. that after noon at Biloxi National Cemetery with full military honors.
