Mrs. Shekell was the wife of EDW Shekell they being married on January 1st 1850 at Joliet, Illinois.
Mrs Shekell was born in Rutland, Vermont on January 12, 1830. Her maiden name being Greene.
She was a lineal descendant of General Nathaniel Greene of revolutionary war fame.
She was a consistent member of the Methodist Episcopal church all her life, being an exemplary Christian and dutiful wife and mother.
In her death she leaves a husband and six children:
1. Will C., Simi
2. Beth B., Simi
3. Henrietta M. Bradshaw of Livermore
4. Dora Macy of Los Posas
5. Bessie Crothers, Ventura
6. Jessie Shekell, Ventura
Her remains were laid to rest in Ventura cemetery on Friday May 24th followed by a large concourse of friends a goodly number of the W R. C. and G. A. R.
