Sudden Summons
Jesse Robinson died suddenly at 11 o'clock last night at his home on Main and Vernon streets. He had been a sufferer from rheumatism for years, and the physicians suppose the rheumatism was suddenly driven to his heart, and death came instantly. His wife heard a muffled groan, and was by his side in time to see his last dying gasp.
The deceased was born in Meigs county, Ohio, February 12, 1819. He came to this county in the early forties and bought a farm just below the city, on which he lived until '58, since which time he has resided in Madison, though he continued to follow farming. Of late years, he was engaged with his son, L. M. Robinson, in the saw-mill. For the past few months, however, he has been in very feeble health.
He leaves a wife and three children--Leander M., the present city treasurer, Carlos, who is now engaged in government ship-work at Elizabeth, Pa., and Mrs. Annie [Amy]Vail, of Trimble county. The children will all be here to attend the funeral.
He also leaves three brothers--Don Carlos, of this city, Finneus [note: Phineas] of Meigs county, O., and Fenn of Brown county, Ohio. The last two are in feeble health, and will be unable to attend the funeral.
Mr. Robinson had always been an industrious, honest and Christian gentleman and he goes to meet his reward at a ripe old age. The funeral will occur from the Christian Church at 9 o'clock Sunday morning, of which the deceased was a good member.
The interment will be in Springdale cemetery, and friends are invited to attend.
