A.C. Flippo was born on March 16, 1925 in Rogers, Texas to William & Leona (Drake) Flippo. He was united in marriage to Josie (Spruill) McKeown on February 2, 1957 in Giddings. A.C. was a retired truck driver having worked for Helmuth Droemer Trucking, Maass Butane and Sharp Propane. He was a member of the Giddings VFW Post 4475 and enjoyed listening to baseball games on the radio.
A.C. passed away the evening of Monday, September 3, 2012 at the Country Care Plex in Giddings.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William & Leona Flippo; his son, Dennis Fletcher; his daughter-in-law, Linda Flippo and his mother-in-law, Bessie Mertink.
A.C. is survived by his wife of 55 years, Josie Flippo of Giddings; his children, Kenneth & Irene Fletcher of Arlington, Debbie & Ralph Domel of Schertz, Mary & Doug Jatzlau of Giddings, Wanda Mertink of Giddings, Jerry Flippo of Giddings and Terry & Beatrice Flippo of Smithville; his grandchildren, Adam Domel of Austin, Jason Domel of Stafford, Kris Bailey of Giddings, Kari Jatzlau of Giddings, Matt Mertink of Nebraska, Luke Mertink of Paige, Juanita Posas of Giddings, Melinda Basquez of Giddings, Jeri Lyn Flippo of Giddings, Victoria Snyder of Smithville, Brandon Flippo of Wichita Falls and Rebecca Flippo of San Marcos; fourteen great grandchildren and his sister, Dorothy Hall of Ohio.
Graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 7, 2012 at the Giddings City Cemetery with Tim Pitts officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the members of the American Legion York Post 276.
