This is my Father's memorial.

My dad was tall, 6'4" & handsome. I always thought he resembled George Reeve of TV Superman fame. He had dark brown hair and light blue eyes. He did road construction most of his adult life, retiring at age 62.

He was a busy man after that, bowling 3 times a week, playing softball twice a week, cleaning his old boss' office twice a week and delivering the extra food he bought to 4 different church food pantries.

After the divorce from his 2nd wife, he moved in with his sister, my Aunt Florie, who had Rheumatoid Arthritis in most of her body. He took care of her for over 30 years until her death in 2008.

He has a son, my half-brother, Louis Albert Farley. He loved both of us unconditionally and was always a caring, hands-on dad. We both love and miss him very much. He was a good man.

He was also so very happy to meet and "hang with" his great-granddaughter, Shelby Elizabeth, for a week in 2005, when she was about 2½ years old. He insisted she call him "JJ" so she wouldn't confuse him with her other grandfathers. She ran him ragged but his eyes lit up just looking at her.

Below is his obituary -

FARLEY - John J., aged 75, of Center Moriches, died at home on Friday, May 15, 2009. He is survived by his loving children, Louis A. Farley and Emily E. Smith as well as two cherished grandchildren, Brian and Daniel and his great-granddaughter, Shelby.

Dad was buried in jeans and a ball cap - his daily uniform.

Grieve not...nor speak of me with tears...
But laugh and talk of me as though I were beside you. I loved you so...'Twas heaven here with you.
