This is the memorial of my Aunt.

My Aunt Florrie was the nicest, sweetest and funniest person I knew. She was so nice that it aggravated the crap outta my dad, who was not known for his patience. :) She loved my grandfather with her whole heart. He was taken way too soon from her and all of us. 30+ years after his death, she'd still get a hitch in her voice talking about him. In 1976, she was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis in most of her body. As debilitating as this disease is, she never, ever let it reflect in her attitude or outlook. Anytime I would call and ask how she was, she was always "doing good", then she'd ask how I was doing. That's her. More concerned about others. Florrie's spirit was light in the dark.

After Carl and Ida (my grandparents) were divorced (year unknown), Carl married Florence T. Farley; September 14, 1957 - Guttenberg, NJ. Unfortunately for me, about 3 years later, my mother Arlene, Carl's daughter, married my father John, Florence's brother. This was a topic of much amusement within the family: my grandpa and aunt were married. Comments included - "I thought this kinda thing only happened in the south!" and "Now we know why you act the way you do!" and my favorite "Your apple never even left the tree did it?!"

It was always fun to realize my mom and grandpa had the same mother-in-law! At the same time!

My Aunt Florrie was my step-grandmother (I'd call her Grantie just to make her mad). This made her brother, my father, my step-cousin. My grandpa was my step-uncle which made his daughter, my mom also my step-cousin. Among the children of the brothers and sisters of John and Florrie, Carl was Uncle. This confused me because he was my grandfather. I called him Uncle Grandpa until I was 10. I've always enjoyed this unusual part of my family tree.

Florence is the 2nd of 3 people buried at this grave site along with her husband, Carl Wittenberg and her brother, John Joseph Farley.
