Lincoln (Linc) Ashmore Winship died Wednesday, December 2nd, 2009, at Island Hospital in Anacortes, Washington.

Born in Garrett, IL on February 12th, 1909 to Charles and Loretta (Ashmore) Winship, he later moved with the family to Oakland, IL where he attended school and graduated from Oakland High School.

After graduation he moved to Alton, IL to find work. In 1928 he got a job with Shell Oil Co. in Wood River, IL. He transferred to the Shell Refinery in Anacortes, WA in 1955 and retired as plant supervisor in 1972.

Lincoln was a life-time member of Franklin Masonic Lodge AF&AM 25 of Alton, Illinois.

He married the former Marjorie Kane of Alton, IL in 1933. She preceded him in death in 1995. He was also preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and 4 sisters.

Survivors include his three children: Shirley A. Bryant and husband Robert, of Brighton, IL, Don Winship and his wife Doris, of Centralia, W A and John Winship and his wife Debbie of Rosewood Heights, IL; a sister, Edythe Aldridge, of Denver, CO; many grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter.

As per Lincoln's request, his body was cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Anacortes, WA.
