Robert Edwin Agner passed away Aug. 11, 2012 at his home in Sun Lakes. He was born Jan. 20, 1958 in Encino to Beverly and Edwin Agner.

Robert started school in Burbank, the family then moved to Portland, Ore. where he began his Little League career. At the age of 8 his family moved to Beaumont where he attended grade school, intermediate and graduated in 1976 from Beaumont High School. He followed by taking classes in athletics at San Jacinto College.

Before high school, Robert played in Beaumont's Little League (Tigers) and Jr. All American Football League (Pirates), continuing to play in both sports throughout high school. As an adult Robert played baseball, softball, bowled and golfed until his pulmonary problem slowed him down in 2006, and in 2008 he was forced to retire.
While in school he worked at the Rusty Lantern restaurant and Alpha Beta Markets, in Beaumont, promoting into the produce department.

Later Robert owned a Union 76 Station in Yucaipa. His last employment was doing something he truly enjoyed, working with the youth, umpiring baseball games, girl's softball games, coed teams and working the traveling teams that used the Field of Dreams complexes throughout Southern California.

After his diagnosis of pulmonary arterial hypertension in 2009, he was forced to retire from physical activities. He began studying many subjects including history of various nations and of the United States. He continued to watch all sports including football, wrestling, Nascar, golf, tennis. He could quote stats and discuss them all.

In addition to his parents, Robert leaves behind his brother, Wayne; sisters, Karen, Kathy Rosano (Bob); Kim Buber (Ken), Linda Gordon (Rick); nieces and nephews, Brandon Dominguez (Rosana), Asalee Turner, Kelly, Kirk and Kasey Buber, Kimberly and Michael Rosano, Kristen, Ricky and Daniel Gordon; great-nieces and nephews, Briana Parra, Andrew Dominguez, Amya Gordon; Aunt, Dorothy Beasley (Don) and Uncle, Randy Preston (Cindy).
Robert is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Edith and Dick Jones; paternal grandparents, Hildy Preston and Carvel Agner, and his aunt Darlene Jones, whom he enjoyed very much.

Robert, a good friend to many, laughed and said "how true," when he recently read that, "True friends are like stars, you don't always see them, but you know they are there."

A celebration of life for Robert will take place in the ballroom of the Sun Lakes Main Clubhouse on Sunday, August, 26, 2012 at 1:00 p.m.
