Embraced in the loving arms of his wife Carolyn, John Robert Hynes surrendered his spirit to our Lord Jesus Christ on September 1, 2012.

John was born to Margaret Ellen Hynes and Robert Hynes on December 7, 1946 in Boise, Idaho. John attended St. Joseph's Grade School and St. Teresa's Academy and graduated from Boise High School. He also attended Boise Junior College.

He married Carolyn Glenn in Boise in 1967. They were blessed with two sons, John and Erik.

John started his career with Boise Cascade at the Emmett sawmill, pulling green chain, and was transferred to the Barber mill to work in the administrative office. Shortly thereafter, he was promoted to purchasing agent at the Emmett sawmill then to corporate purchasing at the Boise corporate office, and later was transferred to Olympia, WA to set up a new office complex for Boise Cascade. He then moved to Aberdeen, WA where he managed their export log yard. Next, he became the production manager in Yakima, WA.

After 25 years of service, he retired from Boise Cascade and began work with Simpson Timber Company at their Shelton, WA lumber operation. He was promoted to mill manager at the Commencement Bay Mill in Tacoma, WA where he was in charge of building a new facility. He retired in 2006 and returned to Idaho.

John was an original member of the Boise rock band, The Mystics, playing the bass guitar. He also enjoyed dirt biking and trail riding throughout Washington, Colorado and Idaho, and was a member of the Treasure Valley Trail Machine Association. John was a jack-of-all-trades; he could build anything and fix anything and enjoyed every minute that he was working with his hands. He learned to play golf for Carolyn. He was an active member of Holy Apostles Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus and supported Eagle Optimists.

John is survived by Carolyn, his wife of 45 years; sons, John (Katie) and Erik (Mary Beth); grandchildren, Connor and Maggie; his brother, Pat (Rhonda) Hynes; sisters, Sally Elliott, Jo Marie (Tom) Ray and Julie Barroetabena; and Carolyn's sisters, Pam (Barry) Bradshaw, Claudia (Willie) Strong and Tamera (Cameron) O'Dell.

John is preceded in death by his grandparents, William (Bill) and Augusta (Gussie) Hynes, Ed and Christine DeLain, parents, Joseph and Margaret Barroetabena, mother- and father-in-law, Roy and Vera Glenn, and brother-in-law, Scott Glenn.

The family extends its heartfelt thanks and immense gratitude for the compassionate care given by Dr. Ben Bridges.

Services are under the direction of Accent Funeral Home, Meridian.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making a charitable contribution to the Priest Retirement Fund in care of Holy Apostles Catholic Church, PO Box 708, Meridian, ID 83680-0708.
