Claude F. Bechtold, 68, of 1928 Creek Hill Rd., Lancaster, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Aug. 31, 2012. Death was unexpected, but he was under the care of a physician. He was the loving husband of Audrey A. Myer Bechtold. They were married 47 years in June. He was the son of the late Melvin and Kathryn Frey Bechtold.
Mr. Bechtold, an auctioneer, was the owner of Bechtold Auctioneers retiring in 2003. Prior to that, he worked as a realtor; and earlier for Etemco. A member of Grace Community Church, Willow Street, he enjoyed: the Phillies; NASCAR; Sprint car racing; being with family and high school friends; and riding motorcycle.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by: two children, Stephanie wife of Michael Johnson, Heather wife of Wendell Metzler; three grandchildren, Owen Ranck, Brady & Kylie Metzler, all of Lancaster; a brother, Keith married to Joyce Bechtold, Willow Street; a sister-in-law, Linda Bechtold, Lancaster. His brother, Melvin Bechtold, Jr. preceded him in death.
The Memorial Service will be Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Grace Community Church, 212 Peach Bottom Road, Willow Street, PA 17584. Greeting time with the family will be 9:30 - 11 a.m. Saturday. Private interment: Bareville Cemetery, Leola. Kindly omit flowers.
