Emory Hardee service Tuesday
Funeral services for Emory Hardee, 79 of Bedford, formerly a Clarinda resident will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday at Walker-Merrick Funeral Home with Michael Hardee officiating. Masonic services will be held.
Mr. Hardee died Saturday night at Rosary Hospital in Corning where he had been hospitalized for the past three weeks.
He was born May 30, 1900, in Page County, the son of Ezra [Pulaski] and Nancy Jane Adams Hardee. On July 6, 1920 he was married to Mary Bell Smith who survives.
Mr. Hardee farmed in this area prior to working at M.H.I, for 10 years prior to his retirement.
They lived in Clarinda until moving to Bedford two years ago.
Besides his wife of the home he is survived by eight children: Mrs. Galen (Jennie) Russell of Villisca, Emory Hardee Jr., Robert Hardee and Smith Hardee, all of Bedford; Mrs. Carroll (Inez) Hulbert and Ronald Hardee of Grandview, Mo; Mrs. Dorman (Iris Irene) Milligan of Vancouver, Wa., and Mrs. Naomi Hey, Raymore, Mo.; 27 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Sisters are Inez Sumner, Silvercliff, Co. and Orpha Vardaman, Clarinda. Estes Hardee of Clarinda is a brother.
He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, three brothers and one sister.
Burial will be in Shearer Cemetery.
