Gwendolyn Marie Temberlake was born on September 3, 1939, in Marshall, Texas to Irmond and Nonie Pope-Temberlake. She was an only child. At an early age the family relocated to Fortworth, Texas where she attended School.

Gwen graduated from I.M. Terrell High School in 1956; she attended college at both Prairie View A&M and Texas Southern where she majored in biology. After teaching a few years, she decided to study dentistry. She graduated from Meharry University in Knoxville, Tennessee where she was awarded the D.D.S. degree.

Dr. Temberlake relocated to St. Paul in the early eighties where she practiced dentistry for more than thirty years. Her dentistry focused on serving families. In addition, she volunteered in schools in order to demonstrate correct dental care. At the same time she encouraged students t pursue non-traditional careers such as medicine.

When Gwendolyn had spare moments she enjoyed preparing gourmet foods for friends and family. She also took time to travel, where she visited many places both in the continental U.S.A. and other parts of the world. Beyond that she found time to mentor young people. These young people became part of her family to be nurtured and encouraged to realize their potential.

Memberships included Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and the N.A.A.C.P..

The faithful devotion that Gwendolyn gave her family and church was shaped mainly by her parents. Her mother was a nurse along with her home making skills, while her father was a pastor whose final service to the ministry was that of pastor in charge at Gwendolyn's Holsey Memorial CME Church. She gave vigorously and unselfishly her energy, time and talents to her church. She held many positions in the church. Her favorite was that of Minister of Music. Her beautiful music could be heard on Sunday mornings as well as conducting special programs throughout the year. She served in that capacity until her death.

Dr. Timberlake was gracious, vibrant, enthusiastic, and caring with a ready wit and humor. We miss her greatly; we loved her dearly.

Gwendolyn was preceded in death by both parents. She is survived by members, including cousins William Temberlake, Walter Timberlake, Aaron Timberlake Jr., and Earley Craney Jr. She also leaves behind many devoted friends.

Gwendolyn loved us all but God loved her most.
