Ervant Agababian (spelled Yervant Aghababian on a couple of documents we have) first came to this country in 1912 (according to the ship's manifest for his return to New York in 1920.) In 1919, he traveled to Turkey to bring his sister and his new wife, Azniv to the United States, arriving at Ellis Island in February 1920. The couple had a hard life. Azniv was traumatized emotionally by the death of her family in Turkey.

There was an elder son, also named Ardash (Jack,) who died in infancy (1 year, 3 months.) A daughter, Mareham (Mary) died in her 16th year.
