MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Carl Kalkbrenner, 87, of Martinsburg, died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2009, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg.
Born July 8, 1921, in Bietighem, Germany, he was the son of the late Karl Kalkbrenner and Berta Trickel Kalkbrenner.
He retired as an ornamental iron worker in Philadelphia.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Air Force. He was awarded the Bronze Star.
He was a member of St. Albert Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Theresa Jacobs Kalkbrenner; two stepsons, David Greenberg of Martinsburg and Steve Greenberg of Kearneysville, W.Va.; one brother, Joseph Kalkbrenner of Pennsylvania; nieces; and nephews.
Services and burial will be private.
Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg.
