Nellie was the daughter of Uriah Mosher and Eliza Reid.

Nellie married Edgar Herbert Baker on April 5, 1907 in Keene, Cheshire, New Hampshire.

The children of Nellie and Edgar include
- Beatrice M Baker born 1908
- Thelma Josephine

From September through November of 1918, the town of Keene was hit by the influenza pandemic. The Forty Fifth Annual Report of the City of Keene states that nine hundred (900) cases of influenza were reported during that time. The city closed "the places of amusement, churches, certain businesses, and the schools" for five weeks to try to curtail the outbreak, and an emergency hospital was set up to help those who could not be cared for at their homes. Despite these measures, 83 people lost their lives to flu or pneumonia. (Some sources place the toll at close to 200 deaths.)

The outbreak had a devestating impact on the Baker family. Nellie, Edgar, Alice, and Gladys died within 10 days of each other as a result of the outbreak.
