John F. Carr, life long resident of Lamont and formerly a prominent business man died at this city after a two week critical illness, following an injury. John F. Carr was born in Lamont on October 1, 1861, the son of Johan and Anna Kane Carr. He was educated in the county schools and put in some time at the Academy in Manchester.

In 1886 he completed his work there and for a while operated his father's farm, a span of about six years. In 1892 he went into the business firm with his brother, James Carr and J.D.Thompson which business was the general produce and cattle exchange. Later this firm dissolved, John Carr became a furniture dealer along with undertaking. He received his license as an embalmer from the state board of examiners at Des Moines, and thereafter for years operated an Undertaking establishment with great success.

In November 1919 he married Ada M. Ryan and since that time this couple have lived in the same home which was his at the time of his demise.

The remains of Mr. Carr were to rest in Campton cemetery.
