Amos Wesley Fisher was the eldest child of John Fisher and Eve Raper who were first cousins (Their mothers were sisters). Per census records he was a farmer before becoming a doctor. He attended medical school as well as practiced medicine in Indianapolis.
He was married four times but had no children. His first wife, Amanda Peckinpaugh, died in April of 1860. They had only been married nine months. His second wife was Cornelia A. "Nellie" Pennock. He married for the third time on June 16, 1889 to the widow Martha Ellen "Ella" Greene nee Coddington (1848-1907). He married his fourth and last wife, also a widow, Mary Melissa "Melissa" McCurdy nee Mull on Oct 10, 1909. Melissa outlived him.
