Daniel Turney Buckner was born on May 24, 1843 in Bourbon County, Kentucky. He was the son of Aylette Hawes Buckner and Charlotte Forsythe Buckner.
Daniel served the Union during the Civil War. He was with Company A, 20th Regiment of the Kentucky Infantry. He was mustered in as a sergeant and mustered out as a captain.
He was married to Carrie Garner.
