He has been a resident at the Mt. Carmel General Baptist nursing home the past 17 months and had been in failing health with emphysema.
He was a retired farm hand and years ago worked at the old Ford body shop.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday from the Johnson funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Garold Hart officiating. Interment will be in Maple Hill cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.
Loren R. , son of Roy and Ruth Trotter Thomason, was born in Wayne County, Apr. 8, 1911 . He had resided in Fairfield since 1965.
Mrs. Thomason was married to Nettie Morlan, Mar. 18, 1933, with four children born to their union. Later, he was married to Lena Wells, who preceded him in death in 1986.
Surviving are two sons, James (Jim) Thomason , Fairfield and Roy (Sonny) Thomason, Fairfield, two daughters, Mrs. Nextwon (Dorothy) Keen, Fairfield and Mrs. Charles (Helen) Talbert, Fairfield, five grandchildren, three step grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, three step great grandchildren, and four sisters, Mrs. Zelma Brown, Mrs. Hazel Xanders and Mrs. Ruby Arnold, all of Fairfield, and Mrs. Gladys Wiedower of Granite city.
