Merlin William Fincham,79,Sutter Creek, California, died of heart problems Sunday, January 19, 1997, at Sutter Amador Hospital in Jackson, California. He was born at Home City, Kansas, the son of Clayton and Pearl Fincham.
Mr. Fincham had lived in Amador County
California, since 1945. He worked as a
mechanic for the Oro Madre School District
for 25 years.
He served in the Army during World War
II in the Pacific Theatre, where he received
the Purple Heart twice. He was a member
of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was
also a member of the Henry Clay Masonic
Lodge No. 95 Sutter Creek and had received
the Hiarm Award in 1995; he was also a
Royal Arch Mason. He assisted with the
baseball teams at Amador High School.
Survivors are his wife of 51 years, Connie
Fincham; a son Gary Fincham; a daughter,
Connie E. Fincham; two granddaughters
and two great-granddaughters, all of Sutter
Creek, California; one brother Chester
Fincham, Frankfort, Kansas; two sisters,
Vera Calhoun, Fallbrook, California, and
Edith Mentgen, Frankfort, Kansas.

Burial was in Sutter Creek Catholic
Cemetery, Sutter Creek, California.
