A graduate of Campbell High School in Smyrna, and the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Brad worked most his adult life at Lockheed Martin in Marietta GA. on the C-130 Hercules, F-22 Raptor, and JSF Lightning II programs. He had previously worked at General Dynamics Space Systems, Northrop Grumman and the Piper Airplane Company.

He attended North Point Community Church. Brad loved to travel and made many trips to South America and the Far East. A fitness buff, Brad loved to run, cycle and kayack. He was an avid scuba diver and caver too.

Brad had several pet turtles and had designed and built elaborate tanks for them. He often commented they they were affectionate and cuddly.

Survivors include Brad's father, Jerry Smith, Ormond Beach, FL; one brother, Stuart Smith, St. Augustine, FL; three aunts; two uncles; many nieces and nephews. Brad was predeceased by his mother, Anna Smith, and a brother, Robert Smith.
