Private Claude W. Ausley of Company K, 142nd Infantry died at the hosptiel being the first soldier to die from natural causes since the camp was opened. Private Ausley's next of kin is his brother, Emmett Ausley who lives in Seymour.

Claude Ausley enlisted as a volunteer with the Texas National Guard in Baylor County in 1 July 1917.
