Genevieve Herlihy, 85, of Fairmont, passed away Thursday (Aug. 17, 2006) at her residence.
She was born Aug. 24, 1920, in Uniontown, Pa., a daughter of the late Harry Edward Sr. and Bessie Luckey Guy.
Mrs. Herlihy was Presbyterian by faith.
She was a graduate of East Fairmont High School and attended West Virginia Business College.
She was employed for 26 years with First National Bank of Fairmont in the Consumer Credit Department and Mortgage Lending Department.
She was also a member of the Rock Lake Club.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Beth and Donald “Butch” Furbee of Fairmont; three grandchildren, Jill Furbee Miller and her husband James of Rock Lake, James E. Herlihy and his wife Tammy of Fairmont, and Jaime F. Herlihy of Pittsburgh, Pa.; three great-grandchildren, Michael, Emily, and Gabrielle Herlihy, all of Fairmont; one sister-in-law, Betty L. Guy of Fairmont; two nieces, Deborah Guy of Arlington, Va., and Jennifer Snyder and her husband Sam of Katy Community; and two great-nieces Jenna and Leiren Snyder, both of Katy Community.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Herlihy was preceded in death by her husband, James F. Herlihy Sr.; a son, James F. Herlihy Jr.; and a brother, Harry E. Guy Jr.
Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. today, noon-4 and 6-9 p.m. Sunday, and 10-11 a.m. Monday at the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Steve Meadows and the Rev. Donal M. “Jack” Squires officiating. Douglas Bunner will serve as the musical soloist for the funeral ceremony. Entombment will follow at the Grandview Memorial Gardens in Fairmont.
