Leonard enlisted in the U.S.Army, March 7, 1918, at Toledo, Ohio. His military record reads: Medical Dept. Camp Greenleaf, Georgia to April 11, 1918; Medical Dept. Base Hospital 53 to discharge, Private First Class, October 16, 1918. American Expeditionary Forces, July 14, 1918 to June 28, 1919. Honorably discharged, July 7, 1919.

Leonard worked in the trim shop at Willys-Overland, Inc. in Toledo, for 44 years, retiring in 1959. He was an excellent upholsterer of house furniture on the side.

He was survived by his wife, Josephine, step-daughter, Lois, and sisters, Mrs. Pauline Zakolski and Mrs. Hattie Piotrowski.
