Rites are held for William Ernest Roberts.
Service conducted in the Haley Chapel Thursday afternoon with large attendance of relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted in the Haley Chapel at 3 o'clock Thursday afternoon for William Ernest Roberts who passed away in the Pike County Hospital shortly after mid-day Tuesday.
There was a large attendance of relatives and friends and many pretty floral tributes.
For the scripture lesson, Rev. J.E.Chappell, who was in charge, read the 103rd Psalm and the 14th Chapter of the Gospel of John. He selected a Text from 1st Peter, 5th Chapter and the Seventh verse. "Cast all thy cares upon him for he careth for you" Rev. Chappell was assisted in the service by Rev. M.F.Dawson Pastor of The First Christian Church.
Rev. Chappell and Rev. Dawson sang "The Old Rugged Cross," "When the Roll is Called up Yonder," and "God be with you till we meet again."
The following acted as pallbearers: Shelly Hayden, Lloyd Kuna, Ernest Elder, Jack Elliott, Fred Griffith and John Creamer. Interment was in Riverview Cemetery.
William Ernest Roberts was born September 15, 1886, at Louisiana, Mo. to the late W.K. Roberts and Mrs. Anna Burle Roberts and departed this life February 9, 1943 at 12:10 o'clock in the Pike County Hospital, Louisiana.
Mr. Roberts was the oldest of seven children, three of whom with his father preceded him in death, ____, Gertrude, an infant, Mrs. Bert Weatherhead and Mrs. C.M.Lloyd, ___ an infant daughter, Ernestine passed on before.
He united with the Baptist church when in young manhood, during the ___ of Brother Houser.
He was inducted into the army during WWI, but did not see active service.
He had spend his entire life in or near Louisiana, except for 10 years he lived at Bonner Springs, Kansas. He was one of Stars Brother's faithful and trusted employee and had lived at the nursery for the last 13 years.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Clemmie Roberts, his aged Mother, Anna C. Roberts and two sons, John Cash and Myron Leslie, and one grand-daughter, Hazel Feroe, all of Louisiana and one daughter-in-law, Mrs. J.C.Roberts, one brother, Cash, of Salme, Oregon, and two sisters, Mrs. L.M. Hewitt, Indianapolis, Indiana and Mrs. J.N.Inloe of Louisiana, nieces and nephews and other relatives and a host of friends.
