Mrs. William McKenna
Maderia Alfreta Miller was born March 1st, 1858 at Oto, Woodbury county, Iowa, and died at her home in Neligh, Nebraska, September 8th, 1920. She had reached the age of 62 years, 6 months and 8 days. After an illness of about nine weeks, it was seen by her family that the end was near. She leaves to mourn her loss a husband, seven girls and three boys, besides twenty grandchildren, seven sisters and two brothers. Two children sixteen years ago, passed away. The daughters are, Mrs. Fred Bechtelheimer, Mrs. Claude Davis, Agnes and Loretto , of Neligh, Mrs. Fred Smith, of Osmond, Mrs. Walt Green, of Wayne, Mrs. Manley Miller and Louie McKenna, of Eli, Nebraska. There are also Grover and Gus of Creighton. One of the sisters, husband and six children were with her when death came.
She was married to William McKenna at Sioux City, July 2nd, 1879. She was always a kind and loving mother, and a patient sufferer, ready to go when God called her home. The funeral service was held on Friday Sept. 10th and was conducted by Rev. Marcus Brown. A quartette composed of Mr. George Sellery, Mrs. Stanley Clements, Mrs. Harry Bowker and Mrs. Fred Olmsted, sang, "Rock of Ages," "Peace, Perfect Peace, and "Jesus, Savior, Pilot Me."
Interment at Laurel Hill cemetery.
