Janet D. Austin

(Converse, Indiana) Seventy-four year old Janet D. Austin passed away in her Converse home on Friday August 31, 2012. Mrs. Austin was born in Converse on July 8, 1938 to the late Sherman and Margaret (Ballard) Hodson.
Janet Hodson graduated from Converse Jackson Township High School. She married Jack R. Austin on February 24, 1963. He survives in their Converse home. In 1973 Mrs. Austin returned to Converse after living in Hawaii and Michigan. On July 1, 1994 she retired as an office manager in civil service at Grissom Air force Base. Janet enjoyed spending time with her
grandchildren, reading, fishing, going to Dewart Lake, and traveling extensively in her motor home.
Janet Austin is survived by her husband Jack, children: Trent (Carla) Austin, Batesville, Indiana and Margaret (Chad) Miller, Converse, Indiana; brother: Carl (Delores) Hodson, Mexico, Indiana; six grandchildren: Amelia, Avery and Alice Austin; Vera, Calvin and Jack Miller.
Janet Austin was preceded in death by her brother Robert Hodson and sister Helen Johnson.
Visitation for Janet Austin will take place from 11 a.m. until 12 noon on Tuesday September 4, 2012 at the Owen-Weilert-Duncan Funeral Home, Larrison-Martin Chapel at 308 East Marion Street in Converse, Indiana.
A Graveside Committal Service for Janet Austin will be held at 12:30 pm on Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at Converse Cemetery.
