Adopted at age 2 by Mary M. Morris Clark Carroll and John Bradley Clark of Denmark. A selfish, gentle, good, kind man. Nurturing son, husband, father, friend. An avid scholar, loved his God, music, gardening, animals, history, genealogy. Assistant Cashier for SCDHT and DPS for 24 years. Member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. COLUMBIA - Funeral service for Jimmy Avon Clark, 55, will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 8, 1999 at the Church of Jesus Christ Later Day Saints, Jackson Blvd. Interment will be at 4 p.m. in Denmark Cemetery, Denmark. Visitation will be 6-8 tonight at Shives Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
Mr. Clark died Sunday, December 5, 1999 at Providence Hospital. Born in Gaffney, he was predeceased by his adoptive parents from age two. Mary Madeline Morris Clark Carroll and John Bradley Clark of Denmark, and his birth parents, Robert Calvert and Mable Martin of Gaffney. He was an avid scholar with a love of music, gardening, history and genealogy. He was the Assistant Cashier for the South Carolina Department of Highways and Public Transportation for 24 years. He was a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, and was a missionary for two years in southern Brazil, where he met his wife.
Surviving are his wife of 29 years Rosa Licht Clark; sons, Christopher James Clark, Britton Edward Clark, both of Columbia; special loved one, Mandy Harmon Kennedy of Columbia.
