Amy Marie McMurry, age 84, of Sparta, passed away Saturday, May 27, 2006. She was born January 6, 1922, in Webster County, the daughter of John R. and Ollie M. Page. On January 20, 1939, she was united in marriage to Raymond McMurry.
Mrs. McMurry was a homemaker and a member of Sparta First Baptist Church. She was saved at a young age and lived her life for the Lord and her family. She taught Sunday School and worked in Vacation Bible School, and WMU. She was a wonderful cook for family and friends, and enjoyed quilting.
Survivors include her husband, Raymond; three children, Doris Ettinger and husband, Warren, Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Larry McMurry and wife, Linda, Paragould, Arkansas, and Gary McMurry and wife, Trish, Sparta; six grandchildren, Mark Ettinger and wife, Sherrie, Bartlesville, Patricia Ettinger, Bartlesville, Laura Hancock and husband, Joe, Plano, Texas, Lane McMurry and wife, Courtney, Springfield, Garrett McMurry and wife, Crystal, Sparta, and Jami McMurry, Norfolk, Virginia; ten great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Sharon Kay Ettinger; two brothers, John and Harry Page; and four sisters, Lola Kelly, Ruth Palmer, Eula Humble and Annabelle Deadmond.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 31, in Sparta First Baptist Church, with Rev. Bobby Stout and Rev. Bally Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Sparta Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark. Memorial contributions may be made to Sparta First Baptist Church Building Fund.
