Valerie "Jimmy" Rochelle Gray, 84 of Fort Smith, Arkansas went to be with her Lord on August 30, 2012. She was born in Texarkana, Texas on December 30, 1927, and was raised a Baptist. Jimmy married Richard Eugene "R.E." Gray in 1946. They moved to Fort Smith in 1970 where he was Train Master for the Missouri Pacific Railroad. The Gray's had celebrated 42 years of marriage when R.E. passed away in 1988.
She is survived by a son, Richard Eugene "Rick" Gray and his wife, Wanda; a daughter, Ann Nelson and her husband Roger all of Fort Smith, AR; four grandchildren, R.E. "Trey" Gray III, Tyler Gray both of Cabot, AR, Erin Rhodes of Muldrow, OK and Melissa Vitale of Greenwood, AR; her loving companion, Harold Hunter Bergman, as well as countless friends.
Jimmy so enjoyed life. She was an avid fisher, gardener, golfer, dancer, and bridge player. For years, she was a member of Ben Geren Women's Golf Association, and she attended Community Bible Church.
The family will visit with friends Monday, September 3, 2012 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Edwards Funeral Home, 201 North 12th Street, Fort Smith, AR.
Funeral service will be 10:00 Tuesday, September 4, 2013 at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with burial at U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Trey and Tyler Gray and Will Rhodes, David Vitale, Orley Masena, and Steve Kifer.
Memorials may be made to the Sebastian County Humane Society in honor of her dogs, Boss and Hero.
