Rosetta Bell Shonk Allen (commonly known as Rosa or "Mommy Allen") is the daughter of John Henry Shonk and Nancy A. Draper Shonk.
She was married to Oscar A. Allen. Her marriage to Oscar A. Allen produced two daughters, Mamie Fern Allen Jervis, born September 7, 1897 (and died April 29, 1930)-(husband, Marvin Jervis) and Okle Lavirgia Allen Jervis, born February 24, 1900 (and died January 22, 1935)-(husband Leonard Jervis).
Rosetta was proud of her six grandchildren: Alena Lurene Jervis Hutson, born October 19, 1915 (and died April 27, 2006); Gertrude Viola Jervis Rickets, born March 4, 1917 (and died December 1976); Doyle Edison Jervis, born April 16, 1917, and died May 17, 1983); Virginia June Jervis Paston, born April 16, 1918 ( and died April 23, 2013); Byron Allen Jervis, born September 3, 1920 (and died March 17, 2002); Bonnie Lou Jervis Lawrence, born December 25, 1924 (and died September 15, 2012).
Beloved "Mommy Allen" was an extraordinary cook. Her recipes survived long after her passing. For many years in addition to being a wife and homemaker and caring for her grandchildren after the untimely deaths of her two daughters, she also prepared daily meals for the railroad workers who contracted via their corporation for her to prepare lunches for the work crews in the Carroll County, Indiana area.

(Noteworthy: Rosetta's two daughters, Mamie & Okle, married two brothers, Marvin and Leonard Jervis. Their subsequent six children, Rosetta's six grandchildren were "double cousins;" and maintained a close relationship throughout their lives).
