Son of Benjamin Redifer and Hannah Redifer.

He was born Benjamin Redifer and enlisted at the age of 16.

Benjamin served as a Private, Company A, 91st PA Infantry Regiment during the Civil War.

He was killed accidentally at the Delaware Junction of the Philadelphia, Wilmington, and Baltimore Railroad. While riding the train lying down, with his feet out the window, his feet were caught by a bridge and he was dragged out of the train. He was buried at Wilmington, Delaware.
