Robert L. McNier of Merrill, Michigan, died Thursday, August 30, 2012. Age 90 years. The son of the late William Earl and Frieda (Knuth) McNier. He was a graduate of Merrill High School and served with the U.S. Army during WWII. He married Betty Simkins in 1944. She passed away in 1970. They had three children, Laurel Huff (deceased) and her husband Harold; Robert M. McNier and his wife, Linda; Ann Marie Bueche (deceased) and her husband, Dan; his grandchildren, Kelly, Shannon and Kimberly (children of Laurel and Harold); Melissa, David and Rachael(deceased) children of Robert and Linda; Donald and Elisabeth (children of Dan and Ann) and many great grandchildren. He later married Ethel Hiser; She predeceased him. He then married Marguerite Ward who also predeceased him. He leaves a special friend, Minnie Roberts. Robert was a career farmer and enjoyed fishing, playing cards, gardening and World War II stories. He will be missed by family and friends. The funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 5, 2012, at the Merrill Wesleyan Church, 3765 N. Chapin Rd. Merrill. Rev. Scott Bills and Rev. Glenn Pettigrove will officiate. Private family interment services will be at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel in Merrill from 2:00-5:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m. Tuesday and then at the Church from 10:00 a.m. Wednesday until the time of the funeral service.
