James H. Bratz, 63, of 205 N. 8th St., Hilbert, died Sunday, Aug. 6, 1989, at his residence after a sudden illness.
He was born April 11, 1926, in Reedsville, son of the late Adolph and Emma (Bubolz) Bratz. He had attended Reedsville Schools. He was married in Dec. of 1954 in San Antonio, TX, to Joann Kendall. He had lived in the Hilbert and Chilton areas most of his life. He had at one time served as a prison guard for the Nebraska State Penitentiary, and had later worked as a welder for Chilton Manufacturing. He was a member of the Stockbridge American Legion Post N. 129. He had also served in the U. S. Army for five years and was a veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Mrs. John (Sandra) Rice, Hilbert; two grandchildren; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Mrs. Lester (Mabel) Buboltz, Brillion; Mrs. Harold (Ruth) Panosh, Manitowoc; Sylvia Behnke, Chilton; Luella Wagner, Reedsville; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Raymond and Florence Bratz, Valders; and Lawrence and Sarah Bratz, Reedsville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, two sisters and a son in infancy.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Sansorn Funeral Home, Hilbert. Burial was in the Brillion Community Cemetery.
