William Alexander Littlejohn was the son of John Wilson Littlejohn and Elizabeth Blount of Edenton. On the 20th day of November, 1856 he married Harriet Alexander Beasley. The wedding was conducted by the Rev. Alfred Watson. At the time of their wedding, she was eighteen years younger than her husband. They had four children. William was in the CSA
