Russell G. Kuhlman, 69, Phelps, N.Y., died July 17, 1979, at Clifton Springs Hospital. Born June 29, 1910, in New Centerville, he was a son of the late James L. and Iva A. (Chorpenning) Kuhlman. Preceded in death by a brother and an infant child. Employed at former Newark State School for 18 years, retiring in 1975. In 1962 he was honored as the outstanding state employee of the year by the National Association of Mental Health. Survived by his wife, the former Ada R. Gary; and six children: Mrs. Leona Meyers, Wheaton, Md; Mrs. Kathryn Nedrow, Mansfield, Ohio; Mrs. Patrcia Morales, Phelps, N.Y.; Richard E., Trona, Calif.; Russell D., Lyons, N.Y.; John A., Sheffield Lake, Ohio; sister-in-law, Ruth Kuhlman, Rockwoood RD 1; 19 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the Wilbur D. Miller Funeral Home, where funeral service will be conducted Friday at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Gregory Pile officiating. Interment, Union Cemetery, New Centerville. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Heart Association or the Cancer Society.
