Johann Georg Schairer

He immigrated with 2 brothers, 1 sister, 2 step-brothers, 1 step-sister, his mother and step-father, arriving in this country January, 1836 and in Ann Arbor, Michigan Territory, August 30, 1836. It took 47 days to cross the ocean.

Soon after coming to this country he felt the need of informing himself of the political matters, so he bought a spelling book and began with the English alphabet to prepare himself to gather the needed information.

He married in Scio Township, MI, at the home of his wife's mother October 31, 1844 to Christina Magdalena Ruehle.

He was a shoemaker by trade.

He had a daughter Alice Augusta born Feb. 3, 1870.
