He was born Aug. 27, 1944, in Ludlow, the son of Robert and Emma (Plumley) Rogers.
He graduated from Black River High School and served in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Rogers married Dorothy R. Wheeler April 24, 1965, in Ludlow. She predeceased him in 1999.
In Springfield, he was employed for over 21 years as a truck driver and production worker at Idlenot Dairy and also worked at Acrylic Design and Vermont Country Foods.
He enjoyed playing cards and reading.
Survivors include two children, Lorraine Bargfrede of Baltimore and Lance Rogers Jr. of Springfield; a brother, Larry Rogers of Mount Holly; three granddaughters; many nieces and nephews.
The graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, in Plain Cemetery in Perkinsville with the Rev. Gerry Piper, pastor of United Methodist Church, officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to Springfield Humane Society, 401 Skitchewaug Trail, Springfield, VT 05156; or American Cancer Society of Vermont, 55 Day Lane, Williston, VT 05495.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield.
