ESTHERVILLE - Funeral services for Stanley Egertson, 91, of Estherville will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 31, 2012, at Estherville Lutheran Church with Pastor Lynn Elrod officiating. Interment will be held at East Side Cemetery in Estherville with military rites by VFW Post 3388 and American Legiun Post 91 of Estherville.
He died Monday, Aug. 27, 2012, at his home in Estherville.
Stanley Ellsworth Egertson, the son of Henry and Hilda (Anderson) Egertson, was born Oct. 24, 1920, in Estherville.
He received his education in Estherville schools. Stan served in the United States Army during World War II. Following his honorable discharge from the military he returned home to Estherville and farmed. Stan was employed at Golden Sun for 20 years. On July 24, 1982, he was united in marriage to Effie Geer in Estherville. Following their marriage, the couple made their home in Estherville.
Stan was a member of Estherville Lutheran Church where he helped deliver bulletins for the church. He also was a member of VFW Post 3388, Elk's Lodge #528 and the Farm Bureau.
Left to cherish Stan's memory are his stepdaughter, Karen Wilson, of Tucson, Ariz.; four step-grandchildren, Christopher Wilson, Jon (Dana) Wilson, Ronda (Jerry) Essig and Cindy Geer; and step great-grandchildren, Travis, Curtis, Corissa, Amber, Nicole, Sydney, Odin, Parker, Aidan and Ciara.
He has been preceded in death by his parents; wife; stepson, Ronald Geer; one sister, Dorothy Mckinney and one brother, Richard Egertson.
