The son of Asa C. East and Sarah Abigail Ingle, Clarence married Maude M. Sexton about 1906. They were the parents of 1 daughter.

The family lived in Cahokia, Macoupin County, Illinois before moving to Franklin County, Illinois. He was a coal miner, like many others in the East family, including his father. Clarence worked for the West Frankfort Coal Company.

Maude died in 1918 at the age of 30.

The body of Clarence East, former Gillespie resident, was brought Thursday from West Frankfort, where he died Tuesday evening, to the home of his sister, Mrs. John Stump, on South Second street.

The funeral services were conducted at 1:30 this afternoon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Stump.
