Rev. Scott was a native of Randolph County and a US Army veteran of WWII having served with the 802 tank destroyer battalion in the European theater. He was a minister for over 60 years and was a former car salesman and furniture factory supervisor. Rev. Scott enjoyed woodworking and gardening.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys Ruth Scott; son, Ben Scott and his wife Martha of Asheboro; daughter, Janet Hohl of Asheboro; grandsons, John Wilkerson of Graham, Tyler Hohl of Wake Forest; great granddaughter, Corah Wilkerson of Crestline, CA; step grandchildren, Michael Bass, Emily Mason; step great grandchildren, Hannah, Caleb and Colby Bass and Ethan Mason.
The family will receive friends Friday, August 31, 2012 from 12:30-1:30 pm at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church, 7811 Pisgah Covered Bridge Rd., Asheboro. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 pm with Rev. Garland Hall officiating. Burial with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard will be in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church, 7811 Pisgah Covered Bridge Rd., Asheboro, NC 27205.
