Hettie Bethetheland Jeffries was born to John Jeffries and Behetheland Massie (Chandler) Wathen Jeffries. She was the maternal granddaughter of Stephen and Elizabeth (Massie) Chandler in Washington County, Kentucky.

Hettie was the step-sister of: Gabriel Wathen, 1789-1867; Thomas J. Wathen, 1799-1834; Polly (Wathen) D(J)upin, 1800-xxxx; and Benedict J. Wathen, 1802-xxxx.

Hettie's siblings included: Sally Ann (Jeffries) Cunningham, 1823-1862; Elizabeth (Jeffries) Feaman, 1812-xxxx; Jeanette (Jeffries) Wade, 18xx-xxxx; and Frances (Jeffries) Board, 18xx-184x.

When we photographed her tombstone, April 23, 2014, the stone was broken into three pieces. The middle piece with her name is missing, the bottom piece says died Nov. 9, 1856, aged 33 years, nine months and 10 days.
